There is a lot going on in our lives and the world. In California, we have been surrounded by so much loss and tragedy due to the recent fires, and every day there is something else in the news or social media that is pulling our attention. In my studies of positive psychology (which is not to be confused with toxic positivity), one of the key elements is resilience.

Resilience is the process of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, and the wonderful news is that we can all strengthen our resilience muscle.

A Tool To Bring Us Into The Present Moment

Mindful Moments

This is a small tool that I came up with and first mentioned in my book "The Perfection Detox." The next time you find your mind starting to spin into rumination, I invite you to S.T.O.P.
S - Stand up or change your state
T - Take a walk: it can be to a different part of your room, to another room, outside into nature, or if you can't do any of those, tap your toes.
O - Observe your senses: What do you see, hear, taste, smell, or feel on your skin?
P - Pick a positive thought, a mantra, or a pattern interrupt that will move your thoughts toward something more positive and helpful to you and your day.

3 Songs I Have on Repeat

Here are three songs I have on repeat right now. By 5 PM tonight, I need to figure out which one I will use for my dance warm-up. I'll let you know next week which one won. I heard the Donna Summer song while in my doctor's waiting room. I had forgotten all about this gem. And yes, I'm in a David Guetta phase.
