PS: Yes, I know the word used here is "want" but it works perfectly to inspire me to do more of what "I must" do 

In a similar fashion to shifting my driver from want to must, I have also changed my language around the actions I take—from "I choose to" to "I decide to."

The problem? Choose is a little vague; it suggests the idea of taking action in the future rather than a deciding to commit in the moment, and "choose" can keep us in limbo. The moment you say, "I decide to," you shift from thinking to doing.

Ownership creates momentum. It turns a passive wish into an active decision. Today, take one thing you’ve been stuck on and claim it as a decision. Notice how much more powerful that feels.

Decide, do, and repeat!

One of the most effective ways to stop second-guessing yourself is to think from the perspective of your future self. Recently, instead of asking myself, "What do I want to do today?" I ask, "What would 65-, 70-, or 80-year-old Petra need me to do so that she can live a life of vibrancy and excitement?"

When you imagine looking back from five years ahead, your priorities shift. The noise fades, and what really matters comes into focus. Instead of asking, "What do I feel like doing today?" ask, "What would my future self thank me for?" The decisions you make today are shaping the version of you that will exist five years from now.

Lasting change doesn’t come from setting bigger goals—it comes from shifting our identity.

When you see yourself as someone who follows through, everything changes. Instead of just wanting to elevate your level of wellness, you become a person who moves their body daily. Instead of hoping to be more confident, you act as someone who speaks up.

Identity-based habits create deep, lasting transformation. The secret? Start acting as if you already are that person—because the more you do, the more you become. Believe it to be true and meet yourself there.
