I'm obsessed with the fast rise, devastating fall, and incredible recovery and huge resurgence of British pop star Robbie Williams. You may have never hear of him as his rise to fame never really crossed the Atlantic. 

He was just on the Brit Pop awards doing an incredible tribute to Ozzy Osbourne. But perhaps one of my all time favorite live appearances was this one. One of the details I love is his casual and artistic use of his microphone. It builds and builds and builds.

Robbie Williams first rose to fame in the early 1990s as the youngest member of the hugely popular British boy band Take That. While the group dominated the charts, Williams struggled with the pressures of fame and a growing rebellious streak, which led to his departure from the band in 1995. But in 1997 he staged one of pop music’s most notable comebacks with his solo album Life thru a Lens, driven by the massive success of the anthem Angels. Originally I was opening with a killer remix of Everybody Wants to Rule the World, but when I heard this last week, I knew this would need to be the opener. Think cocktail hour as the doors open.
